Friday, September 4:

12:01am: Star Wars celebrate Force Friday at our midnight opening. Be among the first in the galaxy to access all-new Star Wars toys, plus get an exclusive free poster and lego commemorative brick while supplies last! Toys”R”Us stores.

Friday, September 4 – Monday, September 7:

Friday – Sunday from 12 – 10pm and Sunday from 12 – 8pm: Odyssey Festival Free admission. Rain or shine. St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, Orange.

Friday 3 – 10pm, Saturday – Sunday 7:30am – 10:30pm and Monday 7:30am – 5pm: Haddam Neck Fair Admission is $8, 3-day pass $20, weekend pass $28, kids 12 and under are free. Free parking.


Friday – Sunday from 9am – 11pm and Monday from 9am – 8pm: Woodstock Fair $12 admission, active military $8, children under 10 are free. Parking fee: $5. Woodstock Fairgrounds, South Woodstock.

Saturday, September 5:


9am – 12pm: Kids Workshop Come learn how to make a football toss game. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a free certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last. Free hands-on workshops; designed for children ages 5 – 12. Home Depot locations.


9am – 5pm: Come to Farm Day on the Fish Family Farm in Bolton. Families come back year after year for the animals, live music, hayrides, barn tours, games, and of course, all the farm fresh ice cream they can eat! $9 per non-member. Fish Family Farm, Bolton.

10am: Junior Chef Class It’s fun and easy to prepare yummy snacks in an air fryer, which cooks crispy fried foods using little or no oil. How cool is that? In this class we’ll make everything from chicken wings to French fries. Suitable for ages 5–13. Free. Registration is required. Williams-Sonoma location.


10am – 12pm: Kids Club They craft, you shop! Kids 3 and up can enjoy a quick project and take home a finished masterpiece. Sign up in store or online, or just drop in. $2 per child, supplies included. Michael’s locations.

1 – 3pm: Brownstone Clam Bake Celebrate the end of summer with great food and friends. Steamed New England Lobster & Grilled lemon – thyme chicken, steamers with shallots and garlic broth, native corn on the cob, red bliss potatoes, farmer’s market salad, fresh fruit for dessert. 1 – 11pm: Fish Fest The all-day event will feature live music, fare from various food trucks, and other unique attractions. $25 per ticket. The Ballpark at Harbor Yard, Bridgeport.

19th Annual Irish Dance Competition with hundreds of dancers from throughout New England competing. To take place at the Carousel Theatre. Presented by the Horgan Academy of Irish Dance. Quassy, Middlebury.


Saturday 11am – 10pm, Sunday from 11am – 9pm: 8th Annual Blues Views & BBQ Festival Get down, chow down and throw down. Levitt Pavillion, Westport.

1 – 10pm: 17th Annual Oktoberfest Admission $10. Children under 12 are free. Arion Singing Society, New Milford.

Saturday, September 5 – Monday, September 7:

Saturday – Sunday from 8am – 9pm and Monday from 8am – 6pm: Goshen Fair The 103rd Goshen Fair will feature Soul Sound Revue, King Kountry, A-Ray of Elvis, Apricot Brandy, Fireworks and the Muttville Comix. New additions for 2015 are KnockerBall New England, Nature Nick’s Animal Adventures and Magic of Christopher on the Children’s Stage and The Zolla Boys. $9 per adults, children under 12 are free. Sunday, September 6:

1pm: Technique Class Air fry your way to some of the tastiest foods imaginable – using little or no oil! We’ll use the Philips air fryer to cook sweet and spicy chicken wings, kale chips and more. Utilizing heat circulation technology, this innovative machine fries foods to crispy, golden brown perfection, and is also excellent for baking, roasting and grilling. Free. Registration is required. Monday, September 7:

9am: 8th Annual Give a Child a JumpStart 5K/10K Run or Walk and Family Fun Day! USATF certified course! Professionally timed race!$36 adults, $18 students and children (up to age 18), free for c5 and under. Rain or shine. JCC, Stamford.

10am – 11:30am: Apple Stamping It’s been a great season for fruit this year!  Goodwin’s grounds are covered with apples that have fallen from the trees.  We have been eating as many as we can (and the deer have been helping too) but let’s get crafty with them and get into the season of fall with some apple stamping!  Handkerchiefs and paper will be provided for you to stamp on, but you might want to bring your own materials to stamp on! Tote bags, t-shirts, aprons, napkins all could be great to decorate with apple stamps! RSVP required. Rain or shine. Goodwin Forest Conservation Education Center, Hampton.

Wednesday, September 9:

10am – 5pm: Celebrate National Teddy Bear Day at EverWonder Come bring your favorite stuffed animal to EverWonder and celebrate National Teddy Bear Day on September 9th. EverWonder Children’s Museum, Newtown.

12 – 2pm: Hike to Brown Hill Marsh Take a 2-mile hike to Brown Hill Marsh!  Brown Hill Marsh was created to support bird species including ducks and the Great Blue Heron, but lots of other types of wildlife make the marsh their home now. This is a moderate walk is taken on semi-even terrain.  Let’s get out and enjoy those last days of summer! RSVP recommended. Rain or shine. Goodwin Forest Conservation Education Center, Hampton.
