Through Saturday, April 4th, have your Photos taken with the Easter Bunny Hop to It! Don’t Miss The Easter Bunny! This year, skip the line and book your family’s reservation with the Easter Bunny online. It’s free and we’ll even e-mail or text you a reminder of your special date. Through Saturday, April 4th enjoy visits with the Easter Bunny at CT’s local Zoo. Hop along the bunny trail to Our House in the Big Backyard where you can get an eco-friendly craft, and take your very own picture with the Easter Bunny! The event runs on April 3 & 4 from 10am to 12pm (noon) and 1pm to 4 pm. The price, in addition to general Zoo admission, is $10 for children ages 3-12, and $5 for toddlers ages 2 and under; parents visit the Easter Bunny for free! Tuesday, March 31 – Thursday, April 2:
Our Annual Take-a-Hike Week programs return! Spend spring break hiking our trails, exploring our habitats, and meeting our live animals up close. Our popular Vernal Pool Hike and Hike thru the Sky programs return, along with new offerings such as Habitat, Habitat Hike and Dinosaur Stomp Hike. Join us for our annual Scavenger Hunt, this year with a “Survival Challenge” theme, where you’ll discover how to make fire, how to read animal tracks, and even get a chance to eat some bugs. Grab your 2015 passport to earn stamps at programs, crafts, or find our “Hidden Stamp of the Day.” Each day from 10 am to 4 pm, enjoy self-guided crafts in our Overbrook Nature Center and visit our new destination on Heckscher Farm — Heckscher Wild! – featuring live animals and plants from across the globe and providing visitors a chance for interaction with these animals through feedings, demonstrations, and special events. 12:30-3:45pm: The Great Egg Hunt and Spring Celebration Join us for The Great Egg Hunt 2015 and Spring Celebration. Our Egg Hunt programs are for smaller groups (25 per hunt) and will explore the miracle of Springtime. Meet warm and fuzzy spring animals (baby chicks and rabbits, plus our friends from Hop Along Hollow – a Rabbit Rescue group) and enjoy the spring weather with a self-guided scavenger hunt on our wooded trails. Up for more of a challenge? Try your hand at our Spoon and Egg Obstacle Course. Eggs will contain nature-themed prizes and nut-free sweets. Rain or shine. BYOB (Bring Your Own Basket). Friday: 10am, 1pm and 4:30pm, Saturday and Sunday: 10am, 1230pm, and 330pm: Easter Egg Drop Adventure! Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to be zip lining, egg in hand, and shooting for a target 50ft below you? Don’t worry, everyone does and, lucky for you, we are kick-starting our 2nd annual Easter Egg Drop on Friday April 3rd and ending it on Sunday April 5th. Try your chance at hitting targets set up below the zip line and if you make it in, you win a prize! Caution: you might end up looking like the guy above! 10am – 3pm: Eggstravaganza! Take part in a scavenger hunt and be on the lookout for eggs decorating the aquarium to win a candy prize. Get your picture taken with the Easter bunny and learn about Aquarium animals that lay crazy eggs. Pictures with the Easter Bunny. Come meet the Easter Bunny! We’ll have professional photographs available for purchase, or bring your own camera. Egg Scavenger Hunt. 10am: Easter Egg Hunt on the Great Lawn Gather your Easter baskets and come out for an Easter Egg Hunt on the front lawn of the DCA! This annual event is the best way for your little ones to get into the spirit of the holiday, and to meet many new friends. Please come early as the Easter Egg Hunt starts at 10am sharp and takes only a few minutes. A special appearance by the Easter Bunny makes this a wonderful morning so make sure to bring your camera. 4 – 5:30pm: CFPA Ramble: Frog Fridays with The Flanagan-Brown Boys Bring your curiosity! We will observe the amazing transformations that occur in vernal pools during several guided outings throughout the spring. Come to one outing or come to many, to see a wonderful array of creatures found in vernal pools this time of year; including frogs, salamander and frog eggs, tadpoles, salamanders, fairy shrimp, insect larvae, and more! 4 – 6pm: Easter Egg Jump-N-Hunt with the Bunny Grab the kiddos and hop on over to Pump It Up of Norwalk for an inflatably fun Easter Egg Hunt, Craft and Pictures with the Easter Bunny! Kids will have time to bounce, play, search and collect Easter Eggs hidden inside our gigantic inflatables. Kids will then bring their found eggs to the Easter Bunny and he will give them a treat and pose for pictures! Saturday, April 4 – Sunday, April 5:
10:30 am – 4 pm: Easter Bunny Trolley The Easter Bunny will be at the Shore Line Trolley Museum. Families will ride a 100-year-old beautifully restored trolley to meet the Easter Bunny on his very own trolley car! There will be springtime crafts too! Additional historic trolleys will be on display for you to walk through and explore. Trolley leaves every half hour. Adults $10, children ages 2-15 $6, children under 2 are free. 12:30 – 3:30 pm: Easter Bunny Trains Admission includes: Ride through our railyard on a vintage train, visit with the Easter Bunny in his special railroad car, small gift for children from the Easter Bunny, temporary tattoos, coloring station, Thomas play table, and Museum exhibits. Trains depart every 30 minutes from 12:30-3:30. $10 for ages 2 and up, under 2 are free. The Danbury Railway Museum, Danbury.
Saturday, April 4:
9am: Easter Egg Hunt Join us for a “Hoppin’ Good Time!” The event will be held rain (inside) or shine (outside). 9am – 12pm: Home Depot Kids Workshop Come learn how to build a chalkboard planter stand. Designed for kids ages 5-12. Free. Home Depot Locations.
9am – 3 pm: Wild Turkey Hunting Seminar Learn to hunt wild turkeys in the spring season, as well as specific techniques for using camouflage and calling. Safety will be discussed. Participants must bring their own eye and ear protection; shotgun with turkey choke; and turkey ammunition to use for patterning shotguns during the workshop. Free. 10am: The 50th Annual Easter Egg Hunt Egg hunt for children in grades: Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grade. Surf Club, Madison.
10am: Easter Egg Hunt Hop on over to the Community Center, rain or shine, to meet the Easter Bunny and participate in RCA’s annual Easter Egg Hunt. Parents, please drop off six plastic eggs filled with candy, snacks or coins for each participating child to T.G. Diamandis at 3 St. James Place (off Yarmouth Road at the top of Browne Place) on Friday, April 3rd between 12 noon and 8pm. Eggs may also be dropped off at the Community Center field before 9:30am on the day of the hunt. Rowayton Community Center, Rowayton.
10am – 12pm: Egg Hunt Children ages six and younger can bring their own baskets and hunt for hundreds of eggs that will be hidden all over Heckscher Farm. Eggs will be distributed throughout the two-hour event. Once eggs have been collected, they can be turned in for a goody bag. Parents and older siblings are welcome to come along in support. The gates of the farm will open at 10 am. Please note only one goody bag will be provided for each child ages six and younger. Admission plus $5 per non-member. 10am – 1pm: Excellent Eggs at Overbrook After you have hunted for your eggs on Heckscher Farm, stop by the Overbrook Nature Center to learn about other spring eggs! Discover the special eggs of salamanders and why bird eggs come in different shapes and colors. We’ll have ongoing self-guided crafts. Join us at 12:30 pm for a live “Egg-laying Animals” class to meet a chicken, snake, and more. Stamford Museum & Nature Center, Stamford.
10am – 2pm: Easter Bunny Express Celebrate the coming of spring with a scenic train ride in Thomaston on the Naugatuck Railroad, including a visit and gift for each child from the Easter Bunny! Reservations recommended, as trains sell out early. Adults $18, Seniors and Children $16, Toddlers 2 and under are free. Train rides lasting 80 minutes with departure times at 10am, 12pm and 2pm. Your train ride departs from and returns to the historic 1881 Thomaston Station. You’ll enjoy the comfort of heated passenger coaches as the Easter Bunny visits each child aboard the train! 11am – 1pm: Free Community Kids Egg Hunt Even if you don’t go to church you’re welcome to bring your kids for an egg hunt, bounce house and treats. Ages 0-13. Free. Church of the Good Shepherd, Norwalk.
11am – 1pm: Meet Wally, the Green Monster! Don’t miss your chance to meet Boston’s most beloved Green Monster! Wally will be at Mystic Aquarium interacting with guests, posing for pictures, and signing autographs. There’s no additional fee to see Wally unless you want to have something signed. 12pm: Easter Egg Hunt Hippy-hop to Olde Mistick Village to meet Mr. Bunny! He will be in the Gazbo on the Village green for a special egg and hug for two year olds and younger from 12 Noon – 1 pm. Then the “older” kids will have their chance to “hunt” for eggs in the Apple Orchard. It’s always according to age: 3-year-olds hunt for eggs at 12 sharp in the Apple Orchard, 4-year-olds at 12:15, 5-7 year olds at 12:30 and 8-10 year olds at 12:45. After the hunts are over, all children can meet with Mr. Bunny in the Gazebo. Don’t forget to bring your camera! In the event of rain, all eggs will be available at the Gazebo. 1 – 6pm: Spring Indoor Shopping Event Join us as we celebrate the arrival of spring! Parents; come and enjoy some shopping while your little ones enjoy a free easter basket and an awesome easter egg hunt. We are also expecting a face painter, games and performances from the girls of pointe to perfection dance studio of Middletown. It’s going to be a great time! 2pm: Family Eggstravaganza! In the spirit of the Easter season there will be a variety of arts and crafts activities to help us prepare for Easter Sunday. Parents are invited to be assistants to the children as they work on their creations, and everyone is welcome to enjoy light snacks and drinks. We will learn about the important symbols of Easter such as butterflies, tulips, crosses, and lilies, and there will be festive music with Patrick Sweeney. All ages are welcome! 2 – 3:30pm: Great Amphibian Migration Come and explore our vernal pools, meet and touch some of the resident amphibians here and learn all about the Great Amphibian Migration and why the protection of these creatures is so important.
